generation xbox/ global gaming crackdown

After I over the gagging reflex that came with seeing this months Wired issue (special edition about video games), I remembered that I want to play spore and so i need to take the good with the bad. In any case, the two articles we read in class is what Im going to talk about here.

Generation Xbox describes 6 traits that "Generation G" has (of which I think I'm the completely opposite of for most).
1. Arrogance - "Gamers as young as 20 often claim to be experts at whatever they do." -- i can think of 5 people off the top of my head that are 16 - 20 that exemplify that, and they're pure pwnage wannabes

2. sociability -- the more a gamer plays, the more he thinks he's social. -- im quasi social and im fine with it.

3. Coordination. 'nuff said.

4. flexibility - analytical, strategic and open minded thinking -- most people i know are already like this without games

5. competitiveness - might be team player but really strong underlying personal ambition

6. insubordination -- i have this issue.... "outsiders dont speak their language anyway"

global gaming crackdown was just so retarded that im not going to talk about it

and also, in regards to my last post
i know that you cannot declare a private variable within a public method

im starting to beleive that the sole reason people think technology is evil is those little bud headphones

well, instead of talking about the unibomber like i did last year I'm going to make a dissertation about music.

My musical interest has diminished increasingly over the last few weeks, and considering I'm usually the type of person who's personal life really included music this was quite a big change in my life (which strangely enough, was accompanied by throwing away everything from my schooling -- yearbooks, high school notes, elementary school report cards, etc -- in addition to half of my wardrobe). I probably did this because i felt I had to change myself before going to college, but the music was weird because I had been evolving musically, which included me keeping my base.

Now I listen to weird indie and ambient, and I'm fine with that.

In other news, I have another java test next wednesday so I will undoubtedly will be studying harder than anything for that....
I can't wait until I have java for 2 hours next year.

five out of all the bitchwork is enough

today i retook cisco exam and got a 77% and I dont think thats too bad, I pass into second semester
i thought i was failing at technology because I had a hard time understanding java, or at least i thought i did, it really just traces back to not trusting myself
so doubleplusgood on that

i started reading growing up digital but since its horribly outdated i stopped... ill read ray kurzweil's singularity for as much as i can handle it.

p's tooth fell out today and he threatens people by telling them he'll make you hold it if you're bad

if yahoo and aol make it so that emails that are paid for have higer priority... i wont realy care because google probably woudlnt do that with their gmail unless they turn anti open source and evil like the rest of companies... and my other email is an MTU one so i'm pretty sure i'll be fine in those aspects.

epitome of evil = college marketing of any computer industry, or THANK YOU STEVE FOR TAKING AWAY MY MARKETING VIRGINITY

nanotechnology is difficult to explain.

as of right now, i need to work on java assignments and study for my accounting test right now.

i want to read "growing up digital" or the such in addition to my coursework... and yes. i was planning to start off with reading the singularity is near, but i might do the growing up digital one...

erm. yes... and i took my cisco final today as well as retook chapter 11. i got a 69.9% on my final, which im decently happy with because I was worried abotu getting a 0%. i also set up my sellers account for ebay and decided that my first few items will be a GBA flash cartridge, two sweaters, and a nirvana box set. I just need to get them out of my car...

28 January 2006

new, and final semester of high school

this semester I have the following classes
cisco II, bioregionalism, independent study technology, ap stats, accounting, java, and calculus
im looking forward to all of them very much

in advanced tech, i realised that this is my third time taking the class, so i want to explore areas of computer science and information technology that I havent yet.

for instance, I've worked on hardware (A+), networking (cisco), building computers (hardware/software), alternative operating systems (linux), and right now I'm taking a programming class.
So, I want to get into more areas, such as robotics, nanotechnology, etc.
Specifically, these are my plans:
-Read "The Singularity" by Ray K.
- Read every issue of wired (monthly basis).
- Do that research whatnot on nanotechnology (so i have a good basis for my minor in college =P)
- Open up an ebay store.
- Build a robot
- Nurture this blog.
- Set up a webcam at model.
- Learn HTML.
- (Optional, if funds allow), building an alternative case for my computer.

2. Dupont essay (about Ray K), Remax Essay, FAFSA forms, Walmart School.
3. For pop culture, I want to do my assignment about the brazilian building that spins around.
