considering i havent really thought about nature against nurture, but saw it as more of a middle ground where i saw cases for both sides... this article actually put fact into some of my thoughts.
what really struck me was the bit about the boys who were born as girls, but really were boys and then after puberty struck they were raised as boys. and since this was a part of the culture (in the dominican republic i think?) it just was a natural thing... whereas in america we havent really reached that point of seamless acceptance of other people
another interesting thing was the development and differences betwixt children that are 3, and children that are 6, and so forth and their commonly chosen gender to hang out with...
GENDER VS. SEX?
this was one of the best articles to read out of this unit, but probably because im too far out of popular culture and too narrowminded about hte narrowmindedness of barbies and kens to let stuff sit
maybe i just like people to be natural... (says the girl with the unnaturally red hair =o)
if i ever have kids one day ill just give them tux's and huskey's to play with
problem solved.
