Video games DON'T inspire people to go off and kill other people or policmen. There might be several murders that can be somewhat attributed to the fact that GTA (and others!) are so ridiculously realistic but it's only a psychological thing. There is no way that these can show you exactly how to steal a car in real life, or shoot a gun from miles away.
Video games are just a quick blame for the real problems society has. Turn on the news and you see (at least what's not censored) beheadings that marines have done. Going back to hte fact that Americans killed an Italian reporter, it's obvious that the military is getting out of control in Iraq. Most people don't even know how long we've been there and the evidence for even being there in the first place is still sketchy. Too bad it's not going to end anytime soon... who bets Syria will be next??? Video games, as well as any other popular entertainment medium are NOT THE PROBLEM. The problem is a lying murderous government and the collapse of the family unit. Even that guy down in Alabama had a broken home...
Censoring video games is also pointless becuase it's basically telling people that you are too stupid to handle this... el fin. I wish America had a european system where there are no ratings and parents actually parented. You need to learn whats right and wrong and how to think for yourself...
In the words of Marilyn Manson in "Bowling for Columbine..."
"The president is bombing some country that most people can't even pronounce... yet I'm teh bad guy because I sing rock songs..."
